The Warrior and the Impossible Love

“For a warrior, there is no such thing as an impossible love.

He is not intimidated by silence, by indifference, or by rejection.

He knows that behind the mask of ice that people wear, there is a heart of fire.

This is why the warrior takes more risks than others. He unceasingly seeks the love of someone —

even if it means hearing the word ‘no’ many times, returning home defeated, or feeling rejected in both body and soul.

A warrior does not allow himself to be intimidated when he seeks what he needs. Without love, he is nothing.”

Paulo Coelho, Manual of the Warrior of Light

Don’t give up!

If this is the answer that the “Lessons of Love” have given you now, the right step for you is to keep moving forward, even if at first glance there seems to be no prospect of “victory.” On second thought, you might find that the hidden side of the coin is exactly the opposite—as is often the case in life.

The worst that can happen is to be rejected. But if you fear rejection, doesn’t that mean you have already rejected yourself? And, above all, aren’t you rejecting the chance to pierce through the armor and reach the heart of the other?

Even if you take no concrete steps in the outer world, I hope this message encourages you to look within for hidden fears and bring them into the light—where they evaporate. Such are the battles of a true Warrior of Light: they bring into the light everything that hides in the darkness. And that is how the warrior reaches love.
