Osho on Self-Love

“First you have to love yourself. Only then will others love you. And you should love yourself so boundlessly, so totally, that not even the smallest particle of self-hatred remains in you. Only then will the grace and love of God become accessible to you.” — Osho

“It is widely discussed that we must love ourselves, and this site also contains many texts on this topic. The reason I am sharing this quote is that it adds something very important to the conversation: ‘so that not even the smallest particle of self-hatred remains.’ I have realized that precisely this tiny particle can become the stumbling block to a truly loving attitude toward oneself. We are talking about the moment when the agonizing feeling of self-hatred no longer torments us, and we begin to think that we love ourselves. However, if the experience of grace and gratitude toward Life as it is is still missing, then likely some of those particles are still there.

If this is your answer from ‘The Lessons of Love,’ check whether the lesson called self-love has truly been learned. And be very careful — the small particles are hard to notice!”
