Richard Rudd on the secret of luck and wishes come true

Desire is the energy that makes us move forward and develop. To take risks and seek new experiences. But why do some people achieve their goals while others don’t? According to Richard Rudd, the author of the book “Gene Keys, the answer is simple: commitment. He explains that success and fulfilment stem from the 29th gene key – the gift of devotion. When we truly want something, we must commit to it fully – one hundred per cent. No back doors. No emergency exits. The only way out is at the finish line.

The secret to all commitment lies in the way in which you begin. It is the energy behind your actions that creates your future rather than the actions themselves. There is nothing that is worth doing in life unless it is done with absolute commitment. It doesn’t matter whether you love it or hate it, if you attempt anything half-heartedly you might as well not attempt it at all. Without commitment, action lacks power or direction and above all, it lacks luck. This last comment may sound rather odd, but there exists a universal law that anything that is done with full commitment carries within it the seed of good fortune. Likewise, anything done without full commitment carries the seed of misfortune. All life is a continuum and every action you take leads you down a certain path. It must also be said that there is no morality behind this universal law of commitment. It simply represents an invitation for you to trust in life.

Commitment is deeply connected to trust in life and this is very important to understand. Without trust, commitment becomes difficult. Instead, hidden fears take over, sabotaging our efforts and making us give up at the first challenge. Walking new paths is never easy. Feelings of loneliness, confusion, uncertainty, fear, and doubt are inevitable. But when they arise, they are not signs that we are on the wrong path – quite the opposite. Any desire that comes from deep within the soul carries the inherent scenario of trial. Recognizing this helps us persevere, turning obstacles into stepping stones toward the ultimate blessing of life: luck.

True commitment includes the energy to overcome obstacles and adversity. Half-heartedness is about giving up at the first sign of trouble or discomfort and, ultimately, all half-heartedness is rooted in deep un-embraced fear. The lesson that comes from the 29th Shadow is really simple. If you quit something too soon you will stay in the same old loop, but if you follow experiences through to the end you will make quantum leaps, both in terms of your good fortune and your fulfilment.”

The significant challenge in this case is how to trust life once we know it has a dark face. Personally, I find the answer in the story of Job from the Old Testament. Despite enduring immense suffering at the hands of his Creator, his trials eventually come to an end, and he is richly rewarded for his sincerity and faith.

The shadow of the 29th genetic key is half-heartedness, a concept I explored further through its counterpart in the I Ching – the 29th hexagram. In Richard Wilhelm’s book, it is translated as “the bottomless one”, “kan” (middle son) or “water” and refers to the soul of man.

“In the human world Kahn represents the heart, the soul locked in the body, the principle of light imprisoned in the dark.” p. 169

Interestingly, the hexagram for the human soul is also associated with Danger, and a double one at that.

“The Abyss keeps coming. If you are sincere, you will have success in your heart and whatever you do, you will succeed.”

Therefore, when we go through difficulties, it is very important not to give up, but to be sincere and persevere. But most of all to trust the process. From trust comes the greatest support to keep fighting for our dreams and getting through the dark and difficult times.

“Once you have embarked on a certain path in life, you are really flying blind. You have only the power of your commitment to carry you through the abyss. With half-heartedness, you are constantly concerned about where this path will take you and whether you have made the right decision in the first place. Your fears heckle you from within and threaten to undermine your commitment. If you yield to them, you actually create the conditions for misfortune. But if you can weather your doubts, especially at those critical moments, then you create the conditions for transcendence.

In this 29th Shadow lies the secret of what is generally seen as success. Success in life hinges upon two things — commitment and luck.”

So, if you wonder why your wishes aren’t coming true, don’t give up! Have patience and trust in yourself. In the end, life will reward your commitment and faithfulness to your soul.
