As Osho shares in one of his parables,
“Do not perish in the trap of hope; do not get carried away by the idea that help comes from the outside. No one else intends to fulfill your hopes. That happens within you.
A hunter once got lost in the jungle. For three days, he encountered no one and fell into deeper and deeper despair—three days without food or water, without sleep, living in fear among many beasts of prey. On the fourth day, he saw a man sitting under a tree. He rushed toward him, filled with happiness, and began to shout: — What a joy!
The other man embraced him, and both were very, very happy. Then they began to ask each other why they were in such ecstasy. The first one said: — I was lost, and I was hoping to meet someone. — I was lost as well — said the other — and I was hoping to meet someone. But if we are both lost, why are we rejoicing? Now, we are simply lost together.”
