From the book The Power of Kabbalah, by Yehuda Berg.
“According to Kabbalah, there is a veil that divides our reality into two parts, which Kabbalah defines as one percent and ninety-nine percent. The realm of the one percent encompasses our physical world. But it is only a tiny part of the universe, only what we perceive with our five senses – what we can smell, taste, touch, taste, see and hear. And it is only a part of the whole.
On the other side of the veil is the realm of the ninety-nine percent, which encompasses the vast majority of reality.
In the realm of the one percent, life has a nasty habit of catching us off guard. We suffer from the so-called Suddenness Syndrome:
“He had a sudden heart attack.”
“All of a sudden he popped out in front of her.”
“We unexpectedly found ourselves out of money.”
…
But is there really such a thing as “suddenness”? No, says the Kabbalah. Absolutely not. There is always a hidden, unseen cause that precedes the “unexpected” event….
Suddenness syndrome arises from our inability to glimpse the illusory in our lives in the realm of the one percent. We fail to see the other side of the veil, where most of reality lies.
According to Kabbalah, the realm of the 99% is the source of all lasting self-realization. Knowledge, wisdom and joy are found there. This is the realm that Kabbalists call Light. When you experience joy, you have touched this realm through some action accomplished in the one percent world. This can be the embrace of your child. Or you may have made an important deal. But the joy you experience comes from the 99% world…
The reality of the 1% is a world of the five senses. It is a realm of spiritual darkness and chaos where:
We react to external events.
Self-realization is temporary and happiness is fleeting.
We are obsessed with consequences, symptoms and reactions.
We are victims who are obviously suffering because of the actions of others and arbitrary external circumstances.
There seems to be no hope of achieving permanent positive change as any change that happens is temporary and, therefore, illusory.
Most of our wishes remain unfulfilled…
The reality of the 99% extends beyond human perception. It is:
A world of absolute order, perfection and infinite spiritual Light.
A world of action, not reaction to external events.
The source, the seed, the hidden origin of the physical world.
A world of complete self-realization, limitless knowledge and boundless joy.
A dimension in which we can cause positive, lasting changes to manifest in our one percent world as well…
The second kabbalistic principle is:
THERE ARE TWO REALITIES:
OUR WORLD OF DARKNESS –
THE WORLD OF THE ONE PERCENT,
AND THE WORLD OF LIGHT – THE WORLD
THE NINETY-NINE PERCENT.”
