Where Does Human Greatness Lie?

“The greatness of a human being lies in the fact that no one can save them. They must save themselves.”

This is the sixth of the “Fifty Precious Gems of Joyful Understanding” in Kriya Yoga. I value it deeply because there is a profound difference between helping and saving. In the interdependent reality in which we live, it is inevitable that we help one another—to support, to heal, to participate in the exchange of love and care in its many forms.

Salvation, however, pertains to the human soul. It is a personal matter, and this is precisely where human greatness resides.
