Pamela Kribbe on the Second Roadblock to Surrender

After presenting the first block to “surrender as a way of life” from Pamela Kribbe’s book—”God as an external authority“—it is now time to present the second. It is titled “Society’s ideals and standards as the second false idol.”

“Another false god that distances you from your true spiritual energy is ‘society’: the standards and values that control your social world and have been passed down to you through your upbringing, education, and work environment.

Many social ideals are rooted in fear, in the need to control and structure life so that it becomes a neat and tidy playground. Many rules of behavior are inspired not so much by what people truly feel and experience, but by how things look from the outside.

Trying to live according to such external standards of behavior can place great pressure on you. Consider the fear of ‘not fitting in,’ that you haven’t achieved enough, that you aren’t beautiful enough, that you don’t have relationships, and so on. By comparing yourself to unrealistic images of success and happiness, your creative energy gets stuck, and you no longer feel at home in this world.

Because of all these ‘shoulds’ and ‘should-nots’ that have become like a second skin to you, you hardly dare to explore your true creative essence. You fear stepping off the beaten path. But it is precisely this true spiritual energy—the energy that wants to flow uniquely through you—that is so welcomed on Earth! This is the part of you destined to bring about the transformation of consciousness on Earth right now.

Connecting with your creative impulses and expressing them in your unique way often requires deviating from social goals and ideals. This may be a case where your natural rhythm of self-exploration and subsequent expression of who you are on a material level does not coincide with society’s program of how and when to achieve certain things in your life.

You may first go through a long process of getting to know yourself on a deeper level without achieving or producing anything externally. While this may seem inefficient and unsuccessful to others, you might be working very hard on the internal level, uncovering many valuable things about yourself. Give yourself time to discover who you truly are, where your natural energy is carrying you, and to integrate this into your emotional and physical body.

Pay no attention to external success. Focus on what is good and right for you, what makes you relaxed and inspired. If you find this way of life and experience inner peace and silence, you will most easily come into contact with your true soulful energy.

There is much fear in people regarding what society dictates and expects of them. The strange thing is that this ‘society’ as such does not exist. What we have are many people together, each with their sincere longings and deep-seated fears. Everyone yearns to be free in the deepest sense of the word: simply to be who they are without the fear of being judged by ‘others.’

Therefore, think again about whether you are giving too much attention to what others think of you. In fact, you also become their greatest enemy when you comply with their rules and fear their judgment; in doing so, you keep the false ideals alive and suffocate both of you even more. You become ‘society’ for someone else.

You are the example when you truly stand up for yourself, listen closely to your feelings, and live according to them, free from external evaluations. These evaluations are born of fear, not love, and are often based on old rules and codes whose true origins no one even remembers. These old rules, which no longer have a connection to the human heart, are waiting to be transformed from within by people who dare to open new perspectives.

Society is waiting for you—it is in anticipation of ideals that inspire and help people connect with their hearts and their true desires. You contribute to the collective transformation of consciousness by becoming an example of love instead of a follower of fear.

Dare to invite the playful child part of yourself. Come into contact with your inner child often: it knows very well what it wants. Often, you can hardly hear what your heart truly yearns for and feel as if you have lost your passion. This is because you do not allow your inner child to play, fantasize, and dream. When you measure yourself according to external codes (what is appropriate for your age, gender, social background), you limit yourself and do not allow the child, the dreamer, and the visionary to lead you beyond these limitations and connect you with your ‘inner code.’

…The more you become free from the false gods that make you small and afraid, the more you live with a sense of freedom and surrender to the heart, and the more the universe will support you and provide you with the means necessary to bring your passion to bloom.”

Freedom is the energy of the coming Age of Aquarius and, as Don Quixote says to Sancho Panza, it is found at the tip of the blade. It is not something we should childishly wait for to be given to us; it is an act of daring and declaring our inner truth. We live in a time where we all participate together in creating a new and more humane reality, so that the sleep of the generations coming after us may be more peaceful.
