Dedicated to the energy of desire, the development of emotional intelligence, and the care of the soul
Start: November 5, 2021 — New Moon in Scorpio
“Sow Desire, Grow a Soul”
This is the second edition of an online group which, in its first edition, was called “Listening to the Voice of the Soul”—a 28-day online group focused on cultivating habits of emotional awareness.
The first edition began on July 10, during the New Moon in Cancer, and I called it “Listening to the Voice of the Soul” because, according to spiritual traditions, the soul is desire—albeit a very particular kind of desire. When we are able to hear the voice of this desire, we use the energy of another kind of desire—the one oriented toward earthly goals—as a means for developing spiritual qualities. And when we succeed in uniting the desires of our material self with the desires of our eternal Self, we receive the support of Spirit to move forward and to embody our dreams.
It becomes clear that this is not the typical way of working with desire, where we “plant the seeds of what we want” on the day of the New Moon and then simply wait for the Universe to take care of their fulfillment. Here the approach is different: sowing the seed is not enough—effort is also required. Additional care is necessary for the seed to sprout: it needs sufficient moisture, light, and warmth.
Psychologically, this means that emotions (moisture) need to be consciously experienced (light), and that one must be fully committed to the processes of psychological maturation (warmth), in order to endure the test when things become difficult or painfully slow. It becomes evident that this is an active creative process, not a passive waiting for what we want to simply happen to us. The creative element comes from Spirit, while the soul is its instrument for shaping the clay of the Earth.
The first edition of this online group unfolded in a very magical way. All participants—including myself—felt the energy of trust and relaxation that emerges from increased emotional awareness, the release of unhealthy defenses, and the establishment of healthy boundaries between ourselves and others.
At the same time, this was an extremely exhausting process for me. Not only because for 29 consecutive days I was available daily to give feedback on the tasks I assigned, but also because facilitating this group turned into a genuine creative process, during which my original plans for how the group would unfold changed radically. Instead of working with the concept of the “inner child,” I began writing a new task each day, together with an explanatory text. And writing, for reasons I still do not fully understand, does not come easily to me.
What emerged in the end, however, left me with a sense of deep satisfaction, and this is the reason I decided to offer a second edition of this group. If you are interested and would like to get a sense of its spirit, it is a good idea to read the announcement for the first edition. It remains relevant, as it contains the original intention with which I began the work. To this, you can then add the knowledge that the duration of the second edition will in fact be 29 days—the true length of a lunar month—and that the format will involve daily self-observation assignments. Accordingly, this time there will be one additional task.
What you can expect from participating is an intensive process of turning inward—that is, registering your emotional reactions and exploring their relationship to the mind, to the thoughts that arise in you. I will guide you through this process both through the assignments I give and through my feedback on what you choose to share at the end of each day. If you decide not to share, that is also perfectly fine. The assignments themselves, together with what other participants share and my feedback to them, offer ample opportunities for reflection and learning.
This time, the beginning of the group coincides with a New Moon in Scorpio. This sign is also a water sign, meaning it is associated with emotions, and in this sense it provides a tailwind for psychological work with emotions and for the development of emotional intelligence. However, because Scorpio’s energy is far more intense and goes much deeper, my sense is that working with the same tasks this time will add greater intensity to both the experiences and the insights that arise. Scorpio is the sign of renewal and transformation, and these are themes of spiritual intelligence. It is likely that this time there will be a more explicit focus on transforming the primal emotional nature and taming the “animal within.”
Depth psychological work is a great challenge, but it also brings greater satisfaction. I trust that, with the support of the New Moon in the sign of renewal and transformation, the completion of this intensive psychological work will once again be deeply satisfying and nourishing for the soul.
Finally, I would like to clarify that although increasing emotional awareness and emotional intelligence has a clearly therapeutic effect, this is not a therapy group. It is a group for personal development and self-knowledge. For this reason, participants who are new to me will be included only after a prior consultation.
You are welcome.
